Dragii mei, Mark Shuttleworth a anuntat azi noapte pe la 1 si 18 minute ora Romaniei ca Ubuntu 13.04 va avea numele de cod Raring Ringtail

@neagu_laurentiu: este oare posibil ca Ubuntu sa devina closed-source? Stiu ca exista promisiunea Ubuntu, aceea de a ramane free si open, dar poate ca e o promisiune in genul celor facute de politicieni, adica facute sa fie incalcate.
Eu renunt la Ubuntu daca se intampla asta. Debian ar fi atunci o alternativa excelenta. |

Nu. Cum a zis si Laurentiu mai sus, licenta GPL nu le permite sa-l faca closed source.

Kernel-ul nu poate fi inchis, nu acesta de pe kernel.org. Interfata Unity poate sau alt soft dezvoltat de ei. Ori sa-l faca pe bani ca Red Hat dar nu closed source in totalitate (nu cred ca au bani si chef sa rescrie ei tot ce folosesc acum din alta parte !).
Ubuntu nu exista pe lumea asta, asa cum nu exista nici o distributie. Exista codul scris de programatori pentru diferite aplicatii. Oricand se gaseste cineva sa-l adune si sa-l distributie unitar. Deci nu-i o pierdere orice ar face Canonical. Edited by neagu_laurentiu, 27 October 2012 - 09:50. |

Nu știu cine a înțeles că Ubuntu va deveni closed-source, eu tocmai am citit anunțul cu pricina de pe blogul lui Mark Shuttleworth și nu zice nimic de genul, dimpotrivă, zice că va deschide comunității proiectele din interiorul Canonical.
Bănuiesc că unii care nu înțeleg engleză au tras concluzii greșite și au pornit zvonuri. |

Nici nu s-a racit bine 12.10 si deja se discuta despre 13.04? Mai bine s-ar repara problemele de la versiunea curenta. Din ce in ce mai multi useri se plang de calitatea serviciilor si produselor oferite de Canonical.

De la 4.10 incoace, la fiecare 6 luni (in aprilie si in octombrie) a aparut o noua versiune Ubuntu (o singura data s-a intarziat cu 2 luni, pentru lansarea in conditii cat mai bune a primei versiuni LTS: 6.06). Nu e nimic neobisnuit ca se lucreaza la 13.04 imediat dupa lansarea 12.10.
