Greek OTE won control over Romtelecom, its biggest investment abroad, paving the way for restructuring the cash-strapped fixed-line telephone operator in a deal signed with Romania on Friday. The deal, which boosts OTE's stake in the company to 54 percent from 35, ends months of negotiation on how to inject badly-needed funds in Romtelecom which made the shares of Athens bourse heavyweight OTE seesaw on worries about the outcome. "We've worked very hard until we signed this accord. The deal will be beneficial for Romania and OTE," OTE Vice President George Skarpelis told reporters after the signing in Bucharest. Analysts said restructuring at Romtelecom and its ability to cope in Romania's newly liberalised markets are now in focus. "The crucial thing is the details of the business plan," telecoms analyst Vassilis Kararizos at Marfin Hellenic Securities said. Skarpelis, who has been recently named general manager of Romtelecom, refused to elaborate on the restructuring projects. OTE officials had said details of the business plan would be released on Monday. "The Romtelecom deal saga is finally coming to an end. Now OTE must concentrate on the tough task of swiftly restructuring Romtelecom and its ailing mobile telephony arm CosmoRom," said telecoms analyst Michael Kavantzas at Devletoglou Securities in Athens. Analysts have said Romtelecom, which lost its monopoly status this month, will face increasing competition from many would-be operators which hope to secure market share in Romania, where fixed-line penetration is only 19 percent. Deadline set Deputy Communication Minister Radu Cernov said OTE had two months to complete the deal, comprising a $145 million cash injection, a debt-for-equity swap and the acquisition by OTE of another 3.12 percent for an extra $30.9 million. "We are happy that as Romania's telecom market becomes liberalised, the main telecommunications operator goes into private hands," Cernov said. He said the state plans to sell its remaining 46 percent stake in Romtelecom by issuing shares on the Bucharest bourse and by selling small stakes to private investors in a year's time. He did not elaborate. "We have had offers, both from inside (the country) and from outside," Cernov said. Analysts said listing Romtelecom on the bourse would be beneficial to both parties, because under an agreement made last November, the state retained the right to give approval for major credits until its stake was floated. They also said listing Romtelecom would revive the small Bucharest bourse. "The deal opens a wonderful possibility for the bourse to list such a heavyweight... it would boost activity and capitalisation," Adrian Stefanescu, equity analyst at brokerage house ETEBA Romania told Reuters. Concedieri masive la RomTelecom !!!
Grupul elen OTE Telecoms a anuntat ieri ca intentioneaza sa diminueze personalul RomTelecom cu cel putin 9000 de salariati in urmatorii doi ani, in scopul reducerii costurilor la operatorul roman de telefonie fixa, dupa ce a preluat controlul acestuia, informeaza Mediafax. In prezent, RomTelecom are aproximativ 30.000 de salariati. Proiectul OTE este de a imbunatati profiturile RomTelecom prin controlul mai strict asupra costurilor operationale. Grupul elen a indicat ca a redus personalul RomTelecom cu 8500 de angajati in 2002. Veniturile operatorului roman vor stagna in urmatorii doi ani, din cauza declinului cotei sale de piata dupa ce a pierdut monopolul in domeniul telefoniei fixe, la inceputul lui 2003, precum si din cauza ajustarii tarifelor, a precizat OTE. |

Sa comentam putin rezultatele de mai sus, observam ca numarul de abonati pentru Land Line este de 4.197.074 in crestere cu 138.817, foarte putin asta in conditiile in care inca se mai da spaga grasa pentru un post telefonic.
Cifra totala de incasari pentru toate serviciile oferite de RTC este de 941.6mil € in scadere cu 0.7% fata de anul trecut (955.3mil €), cheltuielile operationale sunt in valoare de 850.1mil € din care rezulta un profit operational de 91.5mil €, astfel ca la sfarsit dupa deducerea taxelor si impozitelor are un profit NET de 69.8mil €. Datoria anterioara a RTC de 471.0mil € a scazut in cursul anului curent cu 17%, pana la 391.1mil €. Cu alte cuvinte Romtelecom merge pe profit dar cumva cu frana trasa, pentru ca se aloca prea multi bani pe "cheltuieli operationale" (aproximativ 90% din venit), deci e evident din acest punct de vedere ca trebuie facute schimbari interne pentru optimizarea lor. Iata si un punct de vedere oficial al OTE: Quote ACQUISITION OF MAJORITY CONTROL OF ROMTELECOM ........This transaction, expected to close on February 28, 2003, OTE will fully subscribe to a $243 million increase in the capital of RomTelecom. This amount includes $98 million in conversion of debt to equity. In addition, OTE will acquire a further stake in RomTelecom directly from the Romanian authorities for approximately EUR31 million, raising its total ownership to 54.01% of the expanded share capital. It is expected that RomTelecom will be fully consolidated as of March 1, 2003. This transaction, in line with OTE's international strategy, will enable the group to accelerate the turnaround of RomTelecom. Through significant headcount reductions in 2003 and 2004 as well as aggressive measures to lower operating expenses , RomTelecom is expected to reach an EBITDA margin in line with Group current levels (circa 40%) in 2005. Bine, despre RTC e mult de vorba. De exemplu cand sun de pe cartela interjudetean ceasul telefonului prinde o viteza ametitoare si astfel eu platesc un minut de convorbire cand de fapt vorbesc 50 de secunde. Furt pe fata!

Oficialul companiei de telecomunicatii a refuzat sa precizeze marimea fondurilor alocate in 2003 de actionarii companiei pentru programul de investitii. Potrivit lui James Hubley, prioritatile sale sunt definirea echipei manageriale, cu accent pe oameni care au lucrat in conditii similare dar si o modificare a strategiei de abordare a relatiei cu clientii. „Cred ca sunt o serie de clienti nemultumiti de felul cum tratam reclamatiile sau solicitarile lor. Una dintre prioritatile noastre este imbunatatirea acestui aspect al activitatii noastre si va asigur ca nu este un slogan. Schimbarile care vor urma vor viza transformarea RomTelecom intr-o companie mai eficienta, care se va adapta mai rapid la schimbari si va furniza servicii de calitate la preturi competitive. Deja am decis inlocuirea directorului comercial cu un manager cu multa experienta in acest domeniu, care provine de la KPN Olanda“ , a mai spus Hubley. Trebuie mentionat ca aceleasi prioritati (“vom invata sa spunem client in loc de abonat”) erau enuntate in urma cu cativa ani si de Panagiotis Kargados, in momentul preluarii aceleiasi pozitii in cadrul companiei. Pe de alta parte, in ceea ce priveste situatia tarifelor pentru serviciile furnizate, directorul general al RomTelecom a afirmat ca este necesar sa aiba loc o reechilibrare a acestora, fara a preciza momentul inceperii sau dimensiunea acestui proces. „Se cunoaste faptul ca tarifele pentru apelurile locale sunt sustinute de companie prin veniturile obtinute din convorbirile interurbane si internationale, care genereaza venituri mult mai mari. De altfel, dupa 1 ianuarie 2003, nou-intratii pe piata au vizat convorbirile internationale, care aduc profit in scurt timp“ , a mai spus Hubley. „De asemenea, compania va introduce un nou sistem de facturare a convorbirilor, mai complex, care va tine cont de noile servicii pe care compania le va lansa. De altfel, noul sistem de facturare va constitui una din destinatiile fondurilor alocate pentru investitii in 2003“ , a mai spus Hubley. Acest anunt are o dubla semnificatie: marcheaza atat decizia RomTelecom de a crea conditiile tehnice necesare pentru a oferi pachete de servicii diversificate clientilor sai, dar creeaza si sperante privind cresterea cifrei de afaceri pentru companiile care furnizeaza acest tip de solutii. RomTelecom a achizitionat in urma cu cativa ani, prin licitatie, un nou sistem de facturare. Dupa anuntarea castigatorului procesului de achizitie a izbucnit un scandal care a facut obiectul unor controale ale Ministerului Finantelor Publice dar si al unor procese in instanta. Noul director general al RomTelecom nu a ezitat sa confirme ca operatorul de telefonie fixa “este in criza” , precizand insa ca aceasta situatie nu este neobisnuita ci chiar obisnuita “pentru orice monopol care trebuie sa faca fata relativ brusc unui mediu concurential.” La 31 ianuarie, grupul elen OTE a devenit actionar majoritar al RomTelecom, la care detine 54,01% din actiuni. RomTelecom a inregistrat, in 2002, pierderi nete de 64,6 milioane de euro, in crestere cu 38,9% fata de 2001, si venituri de 948,8 milioane de euro, cu 0,7% mai scazute decat in anul anterior. La sfarsitul anului trecut, RomTelecom opera aproape 4,2 milioane de linii telefonice fixe, cu 3,4% mai mult fata de finele lui 2001. In ceea ce priveste durata mandatului sau in Romania, Hubley a declarat ca acest detaliu urmeaza sa fie stabilit cu actionarii companiei dar a asigurat asistenta ca va avea ocazia sa-l vada prin Bucuresti ceva timp de acum inainte. Majorarea tarifelor locale mi se pare o solutie inutila in acest moment. Ce sa mai vorbim de scaderea tarifelor interurbane...
RomTelecom isi va obliga abonatii sa vorbeasca pe mobil (cu ajutorul abonamentelor cu sute de minute in reteaua GSM respectiva) si sa apeleze la companiile CATV pentru Internet (servicii deocamdata slabe calitativ, dar oricum mai rentabile decit dial-up-ul de la RomTelecom). RomTelecom va trebui sa ofere pachete de servicii la abonamente convenabile - pachete de voce si de voce+date. Momentan, RomTelecom ramine la limita profitabilitatii, pentru ca restructurarea intirzie, iar tarifele se pare ca vor creste din nou, ca urmare a dorintei angajatilor de a-si mentine/creste nivelul de trai (salarii din ce in ce mai mari, prime de porc, de miel etc). Sper ca seful american de la RomTelecom sa schimbe cite ceva prin companie. Ar fi bine sa aiba in vedere : - eliminarea "impulsului" din sistemul de tarifare si taxarea LA SECUNDA, macar dupa primul minut, daca nu din prima secunda sau dupa primele 15 secunde (ca la Cosmorom); - scaderea tarifelor pentru dial-up cu cel putin 30% si aplicarea unor tarife ASI reduse in week-end (în Grecia, OTE percepe 0,6 centi SUA/minut ziua si 0,2 centi SUA/minut seara si noaptea); - acordarea GRATUITA a facturii detaliate; - acordarea unor facilitati pentru abonatii care isi achita facturile la timp in fiecare luna ; - includerea service-ului in abonament (in prezent service-ul este taxat separat de abonament si reprezinta echivalentul in lei a 20 de centi SUA) - si propunerile pot continua... Ce "cloceste" RomTelecom vom afla in urmatoarele zile, dar tare cred ca din nou ne asteapta ceva care se va numi intr-un singur fel - scumpire. M-as bucura sa nu am dreptate! |

Scaderea cifrei de afaceri pe primul trimestru este pusa pe scaderea traficului international. Mai ramane de mentionat ca RTC este PE PROFIT si ca acesta este de 20.9milEURO pe primul trimestru!!! Se pricepe cineva la chestiile alea avocatzesco-financiare despre care scrie in Capital? E chiar atat de groasa? Sau e abureala tipica ziaristilor care aud doar jumatate de zvon?
Pentru cine n-a citit, ideea ar fi ca din cauza neplatii datoriilor de catre Cosmorom, OTE ar putea fi obligat sa plateasca in cateva luni ~ $2B (bani pe care nu-i are => faliment). |
