ord spent the past year racing with their Mustang in the Grand-Am Cup series and walked away with a GS Class Manufacturer’s Championship in the process. It turns out that wasn’t only thing that they got from the series though; Ford Ford Racing Performance Parts is revealing three Mustang “performance packs” at the SEMA Show. For upgrading 2005-2006 Mustang GT coupes and convertibles, the ‘FR1 – Power Pack', ‘FR2 – Drag Pack’, and ‘FR3 – Handling Pack’ are designed to add performance gains in both acceleration and handling and were engineered as part of Grand-Am Cup championship-winning Mustang FR500C race program.

Six Ford Fusion SEMA projects will also be revealed to highlight the new Ford Fusion’s tuner-friendly attitude. This won’t be a stretch since the Ford Fusion’s design cues are based off of the Ford 427 Concept, which was first shown at the 2002 SEMA Show. As well, sporty characteristics are guaranteed of the Ford Fusion since its chassis is based on the same global Ford platform as the one that underpins the highly acclaimed Mazda6 sports sedan. The SEMA project Fusions were handed out to half a dozen aftermarket tuners and companies in California and Washington (and Canada). 3D Carbon, FocusSport, H&R Springs, Draxas, HPA Motorsports, and Street Scene Equipment are all expected to show off their visions of a custom Ford Fusion at the Ford display as well as at their own displays. Both FocusSport and Draxas – with experience from turbocharging the Ford Focus - are boosting the 2.3L Duratec 4-cylinder engine of their Fusions with turbochargers. HPA Motorsports and H&R Springs both have 221-horsepower 3.0-liter Duratec V-6-powered Fusions and will be concentrating on aesthetic and suspension modifications. Designers from 3d Carbon and Street Scene Equipment are playing with a European high-performance sport sedan theme, concentrating on applying a road-hugging stance and keeping the clean lines of the original design. The Fusion sport sedan hit the showrooms earlier this month with a $17,795 MSRP base price.

After giving away a FunkMaster Flex-customized Ford Fusion during the course of the FunkMaster Flex Custom Car and Bike Show tour this summer, Flex and Ford are building another special Fusion together for the SEMA Show. The Flex Fusion will feature a custom – body kit, interior, wheels, tires, exhaust and audio system and will be revealed at Ford’s SEMA show stand along with details about a new FMF online video that will appear on a special Fusion website.
