Peugeot 207 gt, cu un motor de 1.6l si 150 cp. Concurent perfect pentru cz3 de la mitsubishi
Quote Ever since the seminal Peugeot 205 GTI every new small, sporty Peugeot has been compared to its predecessor. And all have been found wanting. It's as if Peugeot put the recipe for creating what had been the ultimate 'eighties hot hatch into a cupboard, locked the door and then lost the key. Some of the cars that followed were good enough by the standards of their time - the 106 GTI and 306 Rallye for example. But many were downright disappointing (206 GTI and 307 XS step forwards). And none came close to matching the combination of driving and design appeal of the original 205. Advertisement - article continues below So now it's the turn of the hottest current version of the new 207 to face the question... This is the 207 GT, which boasts a 150 bhp 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine. But, as you'll doubtless have spotted, it's already down an "i" in the reckoning. The reason is simple enough: a fully-fledged 207 GTI will be following later on using a 173 bhp version of the same engine, so Peugeot wanted to create a bit of space between the two models. The GT is being pitched as the cheaper, more accessible and slightly less hardcore proposition than the full-on GTI, but still pitched as being a proper driver's car rather than a badge-tuned base model. Or, if you will, the spiritual successor to the 1.6 litre 205 GTI, with the bells-and-whistles 207 GTI pitched as being the equivalent of the 1.9 litre 205. The GT's claimed 8.1 second 0-62 mph time is certainly putting it into hot hatch territory. The engine which provides this performance is the same motor fitted to the new Mini Cooper S, which is also just about to go on sale. The new motor was developed jointly by BMW and Peugeot and uses a twin-scroll turbocharger to minimise the dreaded lag (the interval between putting your foot down and feeling anything happen in a turbocharged car) - and it's also one of the most efficient of the current crop of high-output motors. In the GT, Peugeot reckons the engine returns 40.3 mpg on the combined cycle, which is good when you consider the amount of performance on offer. Page 2 image First impressions of the engine are almost all positive. It pulls cleanly from low revs with almost no hint of hesitation, and once in the fat mid-range torque band (which stretches from about 2000 rpm to 5500 rpm) it brings an impressive sensation of shove under wider throttle openings. The slick-shifting six-speed manual gearbox is well matched to the engine's power delivery, and although the motor isn't keen to rev much beyond 5800 rpm where peak power arrives, for road use that really doesn't seem to matter. It's good news on the chassis front, too. We've always reckoned that a great driver's car lurked somewhere within the standard 207, although it's been pretty comprehensively caged by the stodgy suspension settings of the more ordinary versions. With lowered suspension and fat tyres the GT has been turned into a convincing rival for cars like the Ford Fiesta ST and Suzuki Swift Sport. It's nothing like as reactive as the original 205 was, of course - that was a car that would cheerfully throw you through a hedge backwards if you even thought about lifting off the throttle mid-corner. But the meaty weight of the GT's electric power steering also manages to deliver some genuine feedback about how much grip the front tyres still have to call on, and with the stability control turned off it can even be persuaded into mild oversteer when you really turn up the pace. It's also impressively comfortable for something so quick, absorbing bumps and bangs like an old-fashioned French car should, and sharing lesser 207's composed and quiet motorway speed cruising. It's a far better all-rounder than most hot hatches tend to be, and - more excitingly - Peugeot have clearly left a reasonable amount of "headroom" to make the GTI version even more hardcore. The only real complaint is with the 207's lack of visual purpose. Aside from a very slightly blinged-up front grille, some chunky alloy wheels and a very discreet badge it might as well be a 1.4 diesel powered version - it's completely lacking in the sort of visual appeal that was a vital part of the hot 205's attraction. Again, that's something for the forthcoming GTI version to remedy - but why should buyers of the GT be denied the bragging rights that come with a well-chosen bodykit? Okay, so it's nothing like as raw or direct as the 205 GTI was - but judging by what we've seen so far, it looks like the hot Peugeot is set to make a welcome return. Page 3 image Model tested: Peugeot 207 GT We like: 1) Torquey performance 2) Civilised road manners 3) Excellent fuel economy. We're not mad on: 1) Bland looks 2) Cramped in the back 3) Having to wait for the GTI. spyshoturi cu break-ul lui 207, cgi-urile indica un mini 407sw
Quote As Peugeot readies its 207 Station Wagon for launch, our spy photographers caught it lining up for cold-weather testing in northern Finland. Production of the car starts late next year. The 207 SW, built on a version of the Citroen C3's underpinnings, is both longer and higher than the 206 SW it replaces. Like the 206, the new model will come in two versions: the glass-roofed 207 SW and the tin-topped 207 Break. 6061214.002.mini3L.jpg 61.54K 8 downloads 6061214.002.mini2L.jpg 62.05K 4 downloads 6061214.002.mini1L.jpg 68.7K 3 downloads 6061214.002.mini4L.jpg 67.31K 2 downloads si cgi-ul: 6061214.002.mini5L.jpg 48.59K 14 downloads |
