The European automobile market confirmed its growth in November. After a difficult summer and four months consecutive of fold from June to September, the registrations of private cars increased by 3,6% in October and 3,9% in November in the 26 countries covered by the Association of the European Manufacturers of Cars (ACEA), which include/understand the 25 Member States of the European Union minus Cyprus and Malta but with Iceland, Switzerland and Norway moreover.

The good performance of November can however appear artificial bus supplied with a jump of 18% of the German market. This performance of the first gone automobile European is of course related to anticipations of the consumers who have advanced their purchases of cars before the increase in the VAT envisaged on January 1, 2007. The Volkswagen group largely profited from it with a rise from 12% as of its registrations last month. But to say as much that the beginning of year 2007 is announced more difficult for the German market…

Since the beginning of the year, the European automobile market finds a growth of 0,8% with 14,29 million registered private cars, that is to say approximately 100.000 of more than over the first 11 months of the year 2005.

PERFORMANCES CONTRASTEES

By manufacturers, the French marks still recorded performances contrasted in November. PSA Peugeot Citroen remains in good form with a growth of 2,5% of its registrations, supported by a range renovated by the 207 and the Citroen C4 Picasso. Since the beginning of the year, the two marks of group PSA limit their decline to 2%, that is to say 1,89 million private cars on the whole.

For Renault, November constitutes a new month of fold with decreased registrations of 18%. Over the first 11 months of the year, the registrations of the group still fall of more than 10% to 1,24 million cars against nearly 1,4 million at at the end of November 2005. These figures include/understand the sales of Logan (Dacia mark) which represent 38.398 units against only 19.617 specimens in 2005 over the first 5 months of marketing of the “economic car” of Renault.

RENAULT PRESERVES ITS MARGINS

In a context of promotion campaigns still very aggressive on behalf of the principal manufacturers, Renault continues his selective marketing policy. The group specified for example to have proposed in November on the French market of the promotional offers lower than French and foreign competition, in particular on the segment of the Clio.
