2005 Chevrolet C4500 Medium Duty Truck at SEMA

Typically, a painter isn’t limited by his or her imagination, but by the size of the canvas. To some degree, the same applies to tuners. What could they do if the canvas was a medium duty truck instead of a compact vehicle? The GM Fleet and Commercial group wanted to know, and the result is the Monroe Truck Equipment, Inc. (Monroe) and MTX Audio Chevrolet Kodiak C4500 – a vehicle that takes living large to a new zenith.

Sound systems are important to the tuner crowd, and the Monroe/MTX Audio Kodiak more than delivers. It features a Kenwood DVD, CD and MP3 player with a flip-out LCD monitor. Crisp, clean sound is delivered via a variety of MTX Audio Thunder Axe component speakers, consisting of a three-way system in the front door panels and a pair of MTX Audio Thunder Axe Separates in each rear door panel. The door panels themselves are custom made to accommodate and display the speakers.

To give the Monroe/MTX Audio Kodiak the thumping sound tuners crave, a 15-inch JackHammer-series Thunder 8500 subwoofer is mounted inverted in a custom fiberglass center console. Additionally, two amplifiers (one for each voice coil of the subwoofer) and two additional amplifiers are used to power the door speakers. The result is a total of 2,000 watts of audio power at 4 ohms.

When Monroe/MTX Audio Kodiak passengers want entertainment that is both aural and visual, the Kenwood DVD/navigation system delivers it via two 6.5-inch wide-screen LCD monitors in the headrests and one 7-inch wide screen monitor in the center console.

Customizing isn’t limited to the sound system, because the Monroe/MTX Audio Chevrolet Kodiak also features Monroe’s Ultra Seat Package, a full set of vehicle gauges and interior elements painted to match the vehicle’s exterior color. To complete the tuner look, Monroe and MTX Audio Chevrolet Kodiak C4500 features 22.5-inch polished Alcoa rims, Monroe’s chrome bully bar with four 8-inch KC driving lights, polished stainless steel running boards, and a custom quad exhaust system with 4-inch stainless steel tips.
