Windows Firewall Control

1. Am cautat pe internet ceva asemanator dar nu am gasit nimic asemanator.

2. Asa ca m-am apucat singur de treaba si dupa o saptamana de munca am reusit sa fac un mic programel care sa stea in system tray si cu ajutorul caruia sa am acces rapid la cele mai uzuale comenzi din Windows Firewall din Windows 7.

3. Programul are si uninstaller care poate fi accesat din "Programs and Settings".

4. Este primul meu program in C#, si necesita preinstalat NET Framework 3.5 pe sistem, Windows 7 are aceasta versiune preinstalata.

5. Orice feedback este binevenit, imbunatatiri, erori, mai multe despre program cititi in readme ce se va deschide automat la instalare.

OK, n-am stat sa dezinstalez iar CIS si l-am rulat in paralel. Nu mi-a dat drumul la Windows firewall (serviciul e pus pe Manual), nu stiu ce face Block unknow ca uTorrent, YM, PaleMoon s-au conectat in voia cea buna (ma asteptam sa ma intrebe ceva despre ele, dar poate e asa si din cauza ca rula CIS).

Promit ca data viitoare cind imi vine iar sa testez firewall-uri o sa-l las singurel fara altul care sa-l incalece.
La prima vedere mi-a placut iconita. :D

Programul functioneaza doar cand serviciul Windows Firewall este pe automatic, deci pornit. Nu are optiune sa porneasca firewall-ul daca el este pe disabled sau manual. Am presupus ca cine va folosi acest program deja are activat Windows Firewall si il foloseste, dar asta se poate adauga la instalare.

O mica explicare a meniurilor:

1. Advanced... > Windows Firewall = deschide Windows Firewall din Control Panel

2. Advanced... > Advanced Security = deschide wf.msc, adica Windows Firewall with Advanced Security

3. Advanced... >Start with Windows = adauga aplicatia sau sterge din Run-ul din Windows Registry, in functie de bifa, iti dai seama daca e activat sau nu.

4. Firewall Rules > Add New Rule... = creeaza o regula inbound si una outbound pentru aplicatia selectata in dialog, astfel ca acea aplicatie poate accesa reteaua/internetul.

5. Firewall Rules > Allow All Traffic = indiferent de regulile definite in firewall, este lasat sa comunice orice program si orice port.

6. Firewall Rules > Block Unknown = blocheaza toate aplicatiile cu exceptia celor definite ca reguli. Ce program nu are o regula, nu este lasat nici inbound nici outbound.

7. Enable Firewall= Activeaza firewall, folosind netsh, nu activeaza serviciul Windows Firewall, ci doar activeaza filtrarea traficului.

8. Disable Firewall= Dezactiveaza firewall, folosind netsh, deci nu dezactiveaza serviciul Windows Firewall, ci doar dezactiveaza filtrarea traficului. Windows Firewall este pornit oricum.

9. Exit = nu comentez

10. Dublu click pe iconita in systray apare fereastra de About, care se inchide cu un simplu click in ea.

Sorry de intrebarile banale dar acu' nu-mi vine de testat chestii noi. :)

Stiu ca ar fi perfect, asta vroiam si eu initial, un mod interactiv, ca in ESET Smart Security sau orice alt firewall, insa asta nu pot face deocamdata.
WF.msc (Windows Firewall with Advanced Security) are optiuni mult mai complexe de configurare a aplicatiilor si a porturilor, eu din Add New Rule... doar setez o noua regula care sa dea liber la inbound si outbound pe toate porturile pentru acea aplicatie. Mai complex, din acest WF.msc.

Ideea este ca mie mi-e suficient sa dau Block Unknown, pentru ca eu imi predefinesc initial cateva executabile, iar restul aplicatiilor nu ma intereseaza sa acceseze internetul. Definesc cu Add New Rule... iexplore.exe, miranda.exe, uTorrent.exe, si cam atat, in rest blocheaza orice traffic pentru orice alta aplicatie.

Un mod interactiv ar fi perfect, insa nu pot crea asa ceva in acest moment, dupa cum ziceam este primul meu program in C#, mai am de invatat.

Dupa ce am postat mi-a mai venit o idee, sa fac sa accepte parametri pentru install <> uninstall, astfel incat sa fie totul integrat intr-un singur exe. Mai lucrez zilele urmatoare la el si revin cu noutati, insa as avea nevoie de mai multe pareri, ce se mai poate pune, ce este insuficient, daca interfata nu e ergonomica, orice mi-ar putea fi de folos pentru a realiza o aplicatie profesionista.

Multumesc pana acum pentru parerile pozitive, si pentru cele ce vor urma.

Dupa o perioada de testare si reprogramare de la zero, am reusit sa fac o versiune mult imbunatatita, care am postat-o pe Softpedia. Ea poate fi descarcata de aici:

In 24 de ore de la postare am avut 331 de downloaduri, ii rog in continuare pe cei ce au timp liber sa testeze diverse aplicatii, sa nu ocoleasca aceasta aplicatie, si sa isi spuna parerile constructive in acest topic.

Update la versiunea 2.0

Programul a fost rescris de la zero, am adaugat functii noi, acum functioneaza si pe WIndows Vista, nu doar pe Windows 7,am creat si un site pentru promovarea programului, am muncit luni de zile, am cheltuit si ceva bani cu hostingul si domeniul, dar in final tot proiectul a luat o noua forma. Asadar, ii rog pe colegii forumisti sa-si aduca aportul constructiv, printr-un scurt reply, vizavi de noua versiune, de functionalitate, de buguri (l-am testat si rastestat in diferite situatii, dar mereu poate sa scape cate ceva), veteranii.  :peacefingers:  Va multumesc.

The new version 2.9 is out ! What's new ?

√ Learning Mode. Show user notifications for outgoing blocked connections with detailed informations about these connections, and permit the user to "Allow Always" or "Block Permanently" the programs that were blocked by Windows Firewall.
When using Learning Mode:
--- For Windows Update, DHCP Client, Network Services, and many other system related tasks to work, you must create a rule to allow "svchost.exe" to connect through Windows Firewall.
--- For network tools, like ping.exe, you must create a rule to allow "System" to connect through Windows Firewall, otherwise they won't work.
√ User can now edit the rules created by Windows Firewall Control in Management Console to Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.
√ Updated the list of rules to provide extended informations for the programs from the list.
√ Display current active network connections for the local computer.
√ At uninstallation of the program, the user has now the possibility to restore default settings of Windows Firewall, to restore the settings that the user had before installing Windows Firewall Control or to keep current settings.


Before using version 2.9 please uninstall any old version you are using from Control Panel, and please do a fresh install to get all the new features. We are sorry for any inconvenience, but the new version works differently than the old versions, and is somehow incompatible, and for some features there is a need for a fresh install.

A new good news is that I have already started to develop Windows Firewall Control as a Windows service and a separately GUI interface. This will fix all problems related to standard accounts that have limited privileges. Until now, is just in alpha stage, but I will make it finally. :)
