Probabil le-au cumpărat pe a le revinde și să scoată ceva profit. Nu este exclus ca una din televiziunile noastre să le cumpere de la ei!...dacă le convine prețul! ;)

Social media platform Facebook has furthered its move into sports content by agreeing a multi-year global partnership with American football league the NFL.
The agreement announced today (Tuesday) does not include live games, with Facebook to instead publish NFL Game Recaps and official highlights from all regular season games, as well as the playoffs and Super Bowl. In addition, NFL Media, the league-owned and operated media division, will distribute uniquely packaged content from its production arm, NFL Films, on Facebook’s Watch platform.

NFL Turning Point, Sound FX and NFL Game Recaps will be posted each week during the NFL season and will be available to fans in the US on Watch. BeIN Sports regains EFL rights in Australia

Pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports has agreed a new five-season rights deal in Australia for competitions organised by the English Football League, which operates the three divisions below the top-tier Premier League. BeIN Sports will broadcast games from the Championship, League One and League Two, as well as the EFL Cup knockout competition. The deal will run until the end of the 2021-22 season. BeIN Sports has broadcast EFL matches in recent seasons, although the current campaign got underway last month without a new deal having been agreed. The broadcaster today (Tuesday) announced that a new long-term agreement has been signed.

BeIN Sports will show live games every week, as well as coverage of every end-of-season play-off match and a weekly highlights programme. The coverage begins with this evening’s Championship clash between Cardiff City and Leeds United, which kicks off in the early hours of tomorrow (Wednesday) morning in Australia. A number of Australian national team players currently ply their trade in the second-tier Championship, including Mile Jedinak (Aston Villa), Jackson Irvine (Hull City), Massimo Luongo (Queens Park Rangers, pictured) and Bailey Wright (Bristol City).

Teletica to retain exclusive World Cup rights

Costa Rican broadcaster Teletica has said it will retain exclusive television rights to the 2018 Fifa World Cup national team football tournament after failing to strike a sublicensing deal with fellow media group Repretel. Teletica agreed a rights deal with world football’s governing body in 2015 and had sought an agreement for Russia 2018 with Repretel. However, Teletica spokesman Jorge Garro said talks had proved unsuccessful.

Garro told Costa Rican newspaper La Nacion: “In reference to the 2018 World Cup, we inform you that in meetings with Repretel and maintaining the same conditions of transmission and payments in other parts of the world, Repretel did not agree to share the rights, so we will maintain the exclusivity, except in radio, which we share with another issuer.” Costa Rica could seal its place in Russia next year if it avoids defeat in a qualifying game against Honduras on October 6.

DVV signs rights partner, title sponsor for beach volleyball tour

The tour will take on a new name for its 2018 season following the extension of a sponsorship deal with health insurance group Techniker Krankenkasse. After five years as a premium partner, TK has taken on title sponsorship in a deal that will see the series renamed as the Techniker Beach Tour.

NBC to shun NHL during Pyeongchang 2018

The NBC network, rights-holder to the Olympic Games in the United States, has confirmed it won’t broadcast any games from North American ice hockey league the NHL during the 2018 winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. The 2018 Games are due to run from February 9-25 and the New York Post newspaper said NBC will not cover any NHL games across the period spanning February 7-26. NBC and NBC Sports Network broadcast 20 games over the equivalent period last season. In April, the North American league confirmed it would not participate in the Games, stating no “meaningful dialogue” had materialised to convince it of the benefits of disrupting its season so its stars can compete in Pyeongchang.

The NHL’s decision ends a run of five consecutive winter Games with the league’s players and followed months of back and forth between the organisation, the International Ice Hockey Federation and International Olympic Committee. The Post said the gap during the Olympics was included in a broadcast schedule released by NBC in July, but it was assumed it would be filled at a later date.
NBC Sports Group vice-president of communications, Chris McCloskey, said its contract with the NHL allows the network to add games but that, “As of now, there are no changes.”

Mexican Football Federation confirms new rights deals with Televisa, TV Azteca

The Mexican Football Federation (Femexfut) has confirmed the extension of its rights deal with pay-television operator Televisa and commercial broadcaster TV Azteca. Confirmation of the agreement comes in the wake of a week of reports concerning the implications of a so-called automatic renewal clause for national team football games in the contract between the three parties.

The new contract will take in the period spanning 2018 to 2026, equating the cycles for the 2018 and 2026 Fifa World Cups. US media company NBCUniversal and Latin American telecommunications group América Móvil last week presented a joint offer for the rights to Mexican national team football. The offer from NBCU’s Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo and América Móvil consisted of television rights in the US and digital rights only in Mexico and the rest of the world. The Proceso.com.mx website said this offer was worth $220m (€184.6m) compared to the $200m put forward by Televisa and TV Azteca for television and digital rights domestically and on a global basis.

Femexfut marketing committee member and president of Liga MX club Santos Laguna, Alejandro Irarragorri, confirmed the renewal of the Televisa and TV Azteca agreements at a press conference on Friday, adding that an automatic renewal clause that had been in place since 2006 will be removed for rights negotiations from 2026 onwards.

Irarragorri added: “During the last few months an extraordinary committee was formed, consisting of four members: Monterrey, Xoloitzcuintles, Pumas and Santos… to carry out the investigation and negotiation of the transmission rights of the national team of Mexico, for the future.
“During this time there were many hours devoted to understanding the past and understanding where we are in the present, what the real situation is, and where we should go in the future. Much has been speculated and spoken with a reality parallel to the possibilities we had of opening it to a public tender.
“However, I want to be very clear that one of the relevant findings of the committee is that the pre-signed agreement generated the holders of the rights an automatic renewal clause, which was below expectations as a group we had for that future contract.
“We have talked with both television stations that have them (the rights), we have made them aware, they have given their support and have yielded to a clause that belonged to them to negotiate a new reality for the future.”

Formula One revamps Australian rights deal

Australian pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports has acquired exclusive Formula One rights as part of a new agreement with the motor-racing series. The five-year deal runs until the end of the 2022 season, with Fox Sports to show every race live from next year.

As part of the agreement, commercial broadcaster Ten will only show free-to-air coverage of the Australian Grand Prix from 2018 onwards.
Ten had previously held rights to 10 races. Under the new deal, it will show delayed free-to-view highlights of every race. All remaining races of the 2017 season will be shown live on Fox Sports and on free-to-air television. Yesterday’s (Sunday’s) Malaysian Grand Prix was shown live on Fox Sports and through the Foxtel Now streaming service, for which a two-week free trial has been made available.

Ten, one of the main sports broadcasters in Australia, entered into voluntary administration in June. Last month, its creditors agreed a deal for it to be acquired by US network CBS for Aus$209.7m (€139.5m/$163.9m). CBS will take control of Ten once regulatory approval is confirmed.
Ian Holmes, global director of media rights for F1, said: “Following the recent difficulties at Network Ten, our first priority was to ensure that Australian fans of Formula 1 remained able to watch the Championship without interruption. I’m pleased to say that, having moved quickly, it is now guaranteed that anyone in Australia who wishes to watch the remainder of the 2017 Championship and next year’s Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix will be able to do so live on Fox Sports, or delayed via the free of charge service provided by Network Ten.”

Constantin Medien ends Sport1 sales process

The management board of German media company Constantin Medien has curtailed a process to sell sports broadcaster Sport1 and advertising sales division Sport1 Media. Constantin Medien had initiated a sales process for Sport1 and Sport1 Media earlier this year, with pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland among those reported to be interested.

The management board said that the “structured, competitive bidding process regarding a possible sale of Sport1 and Sport1 Media” had been ended “with immediate effect.” A statement from the company added that it would concentrate on developing its sports segment, especially Sport1 and the Plazamedia production company.

Two weeks ago Constantin Medien took an important first step in its restructuring through an agreement with partner Stella Finanz. Constantin and Stella agreed on the terms of the restitution of a loan with a nominal value of €12.25m ($14.6m) and CHF26m (€22.45m/$26.7m) granted by Stella, as well as the termination of legal disputes between both companies.Sport1 has rights for a number of football properties, including the German Bundesliga.

TIM approves sports venture with Canal Plus, appoints CEO

Italian telecommunications group Telecom Italia (TIM) has approved the creation of a joint venture with French pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus that is set to compete for sports rights in Italy, while it has also appointed a new chief executive as part of ongoing development efforts. The approval of the joint venture comes after French media group Vivendi in August confirmed plans to form an Italian pay-television platform in association with its TIM and Groupe Canal subsidiaries.
News of such a platform, which would compete head-on with the pay-television unit of Italian broadcaster Mediaset entitled Mediaset Premium, first emerged in July when French newspaper Les Echos said the platform would be branded Canale + and be modelled on the existing French broadcaster, offering a mix of sports and entertainment programming.

TIM said in a statement: “Thanks to the joint venture (which will be regulated by terms and conditions under negotiation, starting from a non-binding terms sheet already signed by the parties), the group will have access to the experience and content of one of the most important production and rights companies in the world. The joint venture will focus on productions and co-productions, both Italian and international, and on the acquisition of rights, including sports rights.”
Meanwhile, TIM has co-opted Amos Genish onto the board, appointing him chief executive with executive powers. Genish (pictured) has extensive experience in the field of telecommunications and technology in both the United States and Brazil, where he co-founded GVT making it the principal ultrabroadband company in Brazil in just a few years.

Until the end of 2016, Genish was chief executive of Telefonica Brasil/Vivo, the principal integrated telecommunications operator in the country. From January to July 2017 he held the position of chief convergence officer of Vivendi, with responsibility for developing the group’s strategy for the convergence of content, platforms and distribution.

TIM executive chairman and Vivendi chief executive, Arnaud de Puyfontaine, said: “We have a clear long-term vision: to return TIM to its rightful splendour, making a crucial contribution to the digitalisation of the country, the creation of Digital Italy, through investment and people. TIM must have a constructive collaboration with the institutions and regulators: creating value for TIM means creating value for the country.”

DAZN seals Europa League rights in Germany, Austria

DAZN, the OTT service operated by digital sports media company Perform, has confirmed it has secured rights to the Uefa Europa League club football competition in Germany and Austria. The contract runs for the three seasons spanning 2018-19 to 2020-21. DAZN will show all 205 matches per season, 190 of which will be on an exclusive basis.

Fifteen games will be shared with a free-to-air partner in each nation. In August, commercial broadcaster Puls 4 struck a deal across the 2018-19 to 2020-21 seasons for exclusive free-to-air rights in Austria. Champions League rights for the next cycle in Germany and Austria have already been acquired by pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland. Sky subsequently agreed a sublicensing agreement to share coverage of the Champions League in both territories with DAZN.

Sportradar to show Bundesliga in Nordics, Romania

Sports and betting-related services company Sportradar has agreed a deal to stream live coverage of German football’s Bundesliga in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden in the Nordics, as well as Romania. Sportradar will show coverage via the Laola1.tv streaming platform, effective from the next Bundesliga match day.

Fans can also access other content on the platform, such as highlights and video-on-demand programming. Laola1.tv is available across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
The launch comes on the back of a partnership between Sportradar and the MP & Silva agency. The two companies are now seeking to distribute this content to other third parties interested in carrying Bundesliga games and highlights in the five countries.

PSA extends rights deals in Asian markets

The Professional Squash Association has extended deals with broadcast partners in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Indian sub-continent. Malaysian telecommunications company Astro will remain a partner of the PSA World Tour until 2021 in what is a key market for the organisation.

The deal was brokered by the Broadreach Media agency, while the PSA has also sealed rights extensions with Indonesian media company MNC and Indian pay-television broadcaster Sony Ten. Terms of these agreements were not disclosed, with the latter covering the Indian sub-continent.

PSA chief executive Alex Gough said: “Malaysia has a thriving squash scene and boasts one of the sport’s greatest ever players, (eight-time world champion) Nicol David (pictured), while up-and-coming players such as 2016 men’s world junior champion Eain Yow Ng and Sivasangari Subramaniam, who helped Malaysia to second place in the Women's World Junior Team Championships earlier this year, look set to be at the forefront of a new generation of Malaysian talent coming through the ranks.”

UFC set to take US rights to open market

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is set to take its US broadcast rights to the open market after an exclusive negotiating period expired with current partner, pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports. The mixed martial arts promotion is currently engaged in a seven-year deal with Fox which runs from 2012 to 2018, but the window for extending this contract has now passed, according to multiple reports.

The MMAMania website said the UFC will now seek to seal deals with multiple partners, in a bid to drive more than $450m (€377.6m) per year from its domestic broadcast rights.
Showtime Sports executive vice-president and general manager, Stephen Espinoza, last month said the pay-television broadcaster is interested in acquiring US rights to the UFC once the Fox deal expires.

Espinoza said Showtime, a major broadcaster of combat sports, would be interested in being part of an arrangement whereby multiple networks hold rights.

Arqiva abandons IPO plans

UK media services provider Arqiva has abandoned plans for a flotation on the London Stock Exchange. Arqiva, which works with numerous sports properties to provide streaming and production-related services, announced its intention to float just two weeks ago.

However, Arqiva said in a statement: “The board and shareholders have decided that pursuing a listing in this period of IPO market uncertainty is not in the interests of the company and its stakeholders, and will revisit the listing once IPO market conditions improve.”
