As one poster mentioned above, the principal reason Samsung have 'postponed' their R&D in large-screen OLEDs (still continues apace in the phone/tablet arena) is due to the difficulties with printing a true RGB structure. Clearly LG's WOLED approach is simpler but that's not to say that they won't face similar problems in terms of overall yields.
I visited their R&D partner only last month and they were very doubtful that large-scale printed OLEDs would appear before 2018 (I was asking as an AV enthusiast rather than a partner!) and they expected the current vapour-phase deposition technology to be used in the majority of (at least larger) screens for some time to come.
Hope I'm proved wrong though, as it could be a real game-changer in terms of price if they get it right."
