daca e singular nu poti pune apostrof fara s. deci waitress's bag. citit ueitresiz, la fel ca si la Dickens's novels, dikănsiz

eu stiam ca se pune apostrof si apoi s daca este un pronume personal.
multumesc. mai am ceva de corectat: credeti ca ams cris corect aceasta scrisoare? scrisoarea trebuie trimisa la ambasada deci e lesne de itneles ca nua s vrea sa contina erori gramaticale.

Bănuiesc că formularea corectă a ultimei fraze era așa : We payed her weekly, with the specification that for the first three months we payed her cash, and afterwards via her bank account.

aici este genitivul substantivelor: la substantivele la singular se pune apostrof s adica: Gina's bag (geanta Ginei), the teacher's book (cartea profesorului), iar dupa substantivele la plural se adauga doar apostroful, fara s:
teachers' room (camera profesorilor, cancelaria), my cousins' car (masina verisorilor mei) etc.

Pe românește se spune „geanta ospătăriței”. Cuvîntul ospătară nu există (decît ca formă a verbului a ospăta). Știu că e off-topic, dar cred că înainte de a ne cizela engleza n-ar strica să ne exprimăm mai întîi bine în română.
Și nu e "payed", este "paid". "Payed", cf. Webster's, se folosește într-un singur sens și aici nu e cazul.

deci... daca perioada respectiva e terminata (dupa cum se subintelege) folosesti had been... au pair se scrie separat si fara majuscula la inceput.. la exprimarea datei "of"-ul apare doar la pronuntie... in cazul metodelor de plata prepozitia difera de la o metoda la alta... "by" ar merge referitor la carduri, insa cand platesti cu acestea, nu cand virezi banii pe card ... till este o forma mai putin formala decat until

Nu am studiat la scoala engleza,dar am trait o perioada printre vorbitori de limba engleza si cea mai comuna expresie pe care am auzit-o si pe care o folosesc si eu,desi nu garantez ca e cea corecta este: They are the same age!
