Indicele de referinta RTS al pietei rusesti de capital, care masoara evolutia a 50 de companii, a scazut cu 6,10%, marti, dupa ce presedintele rus, Dmitri Medvedev, a recunoscut independenta Abhaziei si Osetiei de Sud, arata Reuters.
Indicele RTS a scazut cu 6,10%, la 1.547,1 puncte. Inaintea anuntului, indicele inregistrase o scadere de peste 4%, pe fondul ieftinirii petrolului si a conditiilor economice nefavorabile din Europa.

MOSCOW. Aug 19 (Interfax) - The Russian stock market plunged to its
lowest level in years as a result of negative external factors, namely
falling oil prices as well as renewed fears about the U.S. mortgage
crisis and the weak U.S. economy.
Benchmark stocks plummeted 4.9%-9.1% on Tuesday. The RTS index fell
5.21% to 1685.6, while the MICEX stock index dropped 6.1% to 1361.54.
The spread on RTS futures widened to 11.7, suggesting that
speculators once again have a negative outlook on the current situation.
Gazprom (RTS: GAZP) stock tumbled 6.9% on the MICEX, VTB Bank (RTS:
VTBR) - 5.9%, Lukoil (RTS: LKOH) - 7.2%, MMC Norilsk Nickel (RTS: GMKN)
-4.9%, Rosneft (RTS: ROSN) - 7.3%, Gazprom Neft (RTS: SIBN) - 5.3%,
Sberbank (RTS: SBER) - 4.8%, Tatneft (RTS: TATN) - 8.1%, Surgutneftegas
(RTS: SNGS) - 9.1%, Polyus Gold (RTS: PLZL) - 4.2% and Transneft (RTS:
TRNF) - 6.6%.
European stock indices fell by more than 2% on average on Tuesday,
while U.S. stocks were also down in earlier trading.
Investors are once again fearful about the U.S. mortgage crisis and
are doubtful that government-backed mortgage lenders Freddie Mac and
Fannie Mae will be able to cope with the current problems without the
government's help.
Poor U.S. economic statistics and falling oil prices also
contributed to the downturn on Tuesday.
Total RTS Classic Trading came to $50.223 million on Tuesday, while
MICEX Stock Exchange deals reached 44.978 billion rubles, led by Gazprom
with 14.737 billion rubles in transactions.

TBILISI/DUSHANBE (Reuters) - Russia on Thursday faced diplomatic isolation over its military action against Georgia and accused the West of heightening tension by a naval build-up in the Black Sea.

The Group of Seven rich nations condemned Moscow's "continued occupation of Georgia" and a group of Asian allies led by China failed to follow Russia's lead on independence for two breakaway regions of Georgia.

The joint declaration from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, or SCO, which includes China, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgystan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, said the countries hoped any further conflict could be resolved peacefully through dialogue.

"The presidents reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of respect for historic and cultural traditions of every country and efforts aimed at preserving the unity of a state and its territorial integrity," the declaration said, The Associated Press reported.

"Placing the emphasis exclusively on the use of force has no prospects and hinders a comprehensive settlement of local conflicts," AP reported the group as saying.

Russia had appealed to the SCO alliance to support its actions in Georgia.

Asked about the prospect of Russia being expelled from the Group of Eight (G8), the premier said he doubted the club's operation in such fields as anti-terrorism, anti-drug, and nuclear non-proliferation will be efficient without Russia's participation.
"Well, suppose anyone wants to do it absolutely without Russia. To what extent will this work be efficient?" Putin said.
The former Russian president also said that the G8 is becoming inadequate without India and China.

On-topic: Mai uita-te un pic pe datele privind evolutia burselor si a economiei americane imediat dupa atentatele de la World Trade Center. Tot asa cum economia americana nu a intrat in colaps atunci, eu cred ca nici cea ruseasca nu se va prabusi prea curand. Ar fi nevoie de o presiune economica de durata a Vestului impotriva Rusiei si nu se stie daca UE ar putea suporta o astfel de situatie, mai ales ca depind de rusi pentru o mare parte a resurselor energetice de care Europa are nevoie. Pentru informarea ta economia americana cred ca e cam de 10 ori mai puternica, e o economie bazata pe productia de bunuri, vand in general cam tot ce e top tehnoligic.Pe de alta parte rusia traieste economic vanzandu-si resursele, si la productie bunuri sta ca naiba, basca importa cam de toate...
