Tourist Visa
All countries not listed in the Tourist Card section need a Tourist Visa.
Nationals of the following countries do not need either a Tourist Card or a Tourist Visa to enter the Dominican Republic: Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Israel, Japan, Perú, South Korea and Uruguay
To apply for a tourist visa to visit the Dominican Republic each person must supply the following:
1) Passport, valid for at least 4 months from the date of application.
2) 4 photographs 4x4cm.
3) Last 3 monthly statements of the bank account of the person funding the journey.
4) Employer’s reference letter. If a student, a letter from the institution attended.
5) Flight itinerary.
6) Application form. This form is an official document and cannot be obtained from any source other than the Embassy of the Dominican Republic. There is a Ł30 fee for the form, which is non-refundable. The form may be obtained by requesting it by post by sending the appropriate payment. No walk in service offered. (Only in case of emergency with a fee of Ł10 for the service)
Application
• UK residents should send, by post, the completed application forms along with other required documents and include a Recorded/Special delivery envelope for the return of the passport. In cases of emergency, an appointment can be made to visit the Embassy by email or fax. This will entail an additional fee of Ł10.
• APPLICATIONS BY PERSONS RESIDING OUTSIDE THE UNITED KINGDOM MUST BE MADE IN PERSON.
Applications will be processed within two weeks except the following:
Applications from nationals of the following countries will be processed in ten to twelve weeks: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and United Arab Emirates.
Applications from nationals of the following countries will be processed in four to six weeks: China, Colombia, Cuba, Haiti, Hong Kong, India, Morocco, Mauritania, South Africa, Tunisia, and Turkey.
Issuance
• If and when the visa application is approved, a fee of Ł100.00 will be payable for its emission.
• The visa is valid for a single entry within two months of emission.
Note:
• All payment must be made by Postal Order or Banker’s Draft payable to the Embassy of the Dominican Republic. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHEQUES.
• It is essential that you include a self-addressed envelope with the appropriate postage for Recorded/Special delivery only. Failure to do so may cause problems with the return delivery of your passport.
Indefinite leave to remain*
Persons with an indefinite leave to remain in the U.K. stamp on their passports may apply for a Entry Permit that will allow them to travel without a visa. An Entry Permit may be obtained by sending by post the following documents:
• Photocopy of the passport (pages containing personal details and indefinite leave to remain stamp).
• A fee of Ł55.00
• Self-address stamped envelope.
*Please note Entry Permits cannot be issued to persons with Travel Documents, who must apply for a Tourist Visa.
